Top 2 Tuesday...things to do before you die

Today is Top Two Tuesday over at The Undomestic Momma and today's topic is the top two things you would liek to do before you die.

1. The Band of Brothers Tour... (click the pic below to visit the website)

Now... this sounds rather boring to a lot of you and such a small event...but the itinerary is AMAZING!!! AND the cost reflects it... The tour is based on the book by stephan Ambrose and the HBO miniseries. It's 14 days long, beginning in Atlanta, GA and ending in Zell am See, Austria. You travel through England, France, Holland, Germany and Austria. You get to visit places like Normandy and the beaches, Brecourt Manor, Eidenhoven, Bastogne, the Ardennes Forest, and the Eagle's Nest. The cost is $6,500ish for just one person though. Justin and I have talked about doing this but with Molly and the future children...it will probably never happen. :)

2. Open a children's store...

This is a recent addition to my list of "dreams"...maybe it has to do with the fact that I have a 3 month old...but after visiting all kinds of children's stores in the past 9 months...I think there is some money in it. But...just like my career now...it's not just becasue of the money...(obviously teaching is not for the money - :P) My mom and I have recently discussed the possiblity but I don't see it happening anytime soon...so it will probably remain a dream.

Just like the Undomestic Momma, I have a few more to add to my "bucket list". if you know me, you can probably name these b/c I talk about them quite a lot.

1. Shoot a turkey with a bow and arrow
2. Win an Olympic gold medal
3. Be a NASCAR official
4. Ride a bull

These are all pretty much "dreams"...but it's always fun to dream...And I like to dream BIG!!!

God Bless!

My two cents about diapers

Lately, there's been a lot of talk around the blog world and message boards about diapers. Specifically the Pampers Dry Max....We LOVE the Pampers diapers. We have tried the two other big names, Luvs and Huggies, and the Pampers works the best on Molly. Luvs worked okay but could not hold up to the nighttime. On more than one occasion, Molly soaked through the diaper, the onesie and the swaddler. The Huggies just don't fit her little booty. They never worked. So we stuck with the Pampers.

Now, I'm a huge fan of the swaddlers but those things are so expensive and Pampers changed to the Dry Max and things started to hit the fan. I'm not sure what we are going to do when Molly goes to school next fall...b/c we have to provide diapers and formula (and we use the most expensive of both - only the best for my baby...j/k!) But more on that later...

What got me thinking about this, you might be asking...since we've not had a problem...Well, someone I know (through my sister-in-law) has a daughter who suffered a boil on her "lady bits". Now, she is not totally sure that the dry max diapers casued the boil. But she does know that she switched to the dry max cruisers and her daughter got a boil after the fact. It had ot be lanced and left a pencil tip size hole in her skin. That's not fun!! Poor little girl couldn't crawl or move around at all w/o hurting.

So...here's the facts that I understand:

1. Proctor and Gamble is the parent company of Pampers. From what I've read, they have done all kinds of testing and could not find anything wrong with the Dry Max diapers.

2. A number of "mommy bloggers" (just like me) and FACEBOOK users (parents) have started a "campaign" of sorts to get P & G to recall the Dry max diapers. So far, P & G has not and will not, stating that the allegations are "completely false rumors, fueled by social meadia". That's us.

3. P & G has said that diaper rashes are normal and can be painful and quite severe if not treated properly. From what I understand, these "rashes" are not rashes at all but actually burns, blisters, boils, ect. That's not diaper rash.

Here's my two cents:

Shouldn't Proctor and Gamble be a little bit more understanding and helpful when dealing with parents who's children have burns, blisters, and boils on the most senstive parts of their bodies?

Shouldn't Proctor and Gamble be a little bit more willing to actaully investigate the claims, no matter how small the number ("2 per million units sold" is the number I saw...plus the number of laswsuits that have been filed - which I don't know) b/c of the recent trouble other companys, mainly TOYOTA have been getting into?

To my understanding, Toyota KNEW that some lines of their cars had break problems...and did not recall them b/c the cost did not benefit them. Now, they are in trouble. BIG TROUBLE! At least, you would hope.

Don't big businesses deal more in cost anaylsis and b/c of this fact, should we trust anything P & G says? Meaning...the lawsuits being filed and the payouts that are going to come from these cost less than recalling the whole line of Dry max daipers....right now, the cost vs. cost leans in favor of no recall.

Pampers Website (Has FAQ about Dry Max diapers)

It's all very interesting but I think until I hear something one way or the other...we wil stay away from the Pampers Dry Max diapers. We will probably stick with regular pampers for the night time and when she's home but we might switch to Luv's or another brand. I read this morning about the Target Up & Up brand.

We might try them out and see. I've been thinking about trying out the Up & Up formula too...we stay tuned...we will see!

A baptism, a birthday and an anniversary!!

Today was Molly's 3 month birthday. We had her baptised today. Today was also my parent's 29th birthday It was a busy day. She wore my baptism dress from 26 years ago. It was really neat. But of course, again, we failed at getting a family picture today. We gotta get better at that.

And of course...we had to take 3 month pictures. I'm not going to lie, she's been a bear today...probably b/c she's not pooped in 2 days and b/c she REFUSES to take a good nap...it's 30 mintues here or there on and off all day. But we did have a brief window of relief to an a cute little photo shoot.

I got her the jean skirt last week at BRU and her shoes came Nana (BRU)

I LOVE THIS LITTLE GIRL!!!
With daddy!

Such a big girl!

Happy anniversay to my mom and dad who celebrated their 29th anniversary today!!!

1976- dad's high school graduation (mom was a freshman)

Rocking the Bumbo

We've been working on sitting in the Bumbo and, of course, neck strength...I know there is some negative info on the Bumbo...but she doesn't sit in it long enough to hurt her. I've been trying to take pictures everytime we sit her in it.

8 weeks old

2 months old

10 weeks old

12 weeks old
I can totally tell that she's getting stronger and better at sitting up. We'll keep working on it!

Happy 12 weeks!! Get ready for picture overload!!!

My Molly turned 12 weeks old today...she will be 3 months on Sunday...she is getting baptized....I always like to do pictures on her big "week" birthdays...okay...I mean month birthday! 8 weeks...12 weeks...ect. Anyways...you get the picture...so here they come!!

You know there's a shoe picture... Gotta LOVE the gold shoes!!

Top Two Tuesday...my first...

Okay...so I know that I said that I don't usually do these but this Top two Tuesday tidbit is supposed to be about your top two dream homes. Go over and visit The Undomestic Momma's blog.

Justin and I have been thinking about building our next home. We've been actively looking for land but we are running into some problems...like where do we want to look? Here's the dealo:

a. I'm from Ozark and He's from Ash Grove - our families are on opposite sides of Springfield...so where do we look that is going to be the smae distance to both grandparents' houses? Republic? South Springfield?

b. I work in Ozark but he works in North Springfield...(opposite sides of the city)...if we lived in Ozark, Rogersville, ect...he would have to drive into work WITH the traffic (I drive opposite of it now)...plus it would lenghten his drive... If we looked in Republic...my drive wouldn't shorten but his would get longer...by, like, 20 minutes :(

But I digress...this blog was supposed to be about my dream home. I love the Craftsman style houses.
1.
2.

The above house plans came from the House Designers Website

Typically...Craftsman style houses have...

1. An inviting porch
2. Details (like built-ins)that increase functionality
3. Open Floor Plans
4. Exposed wooden rafters

The first house (#1) has 2,400 square feet and the second has 2,100. We actually like the 2 house plan better but I think I would like to have a half bath (for guests)...like this
In the kitchen...I want an island with a gas stove top...and the ovens on the wall. I love the dark wood of the picture below. And a pantry!!!!

There are so many choices when building a house...I'm not sure that Justin and I can do it but I'm looking forward to trying...in a couple of years!!!

My first Mother's Day

I say this to myself everyday, but I still can't believe that I am a mommy to this beautiful, little girl. She is the greatest gift that God has given me. She is the light of my life and I can't believe that I am going to be blessed to get to watch her grow ad learn. She is already so strong and smart. It's amazing how much she has learned in the short 12 weeks that she's been in our world. (Her bow is from Princess Coutour Designs)

I am the luckiest girl in the world to have a man that is such a great father to our daughter!! He's been so lucky in that he's gotten to stay home for 5 weeks...and in that time, they have grown so close. It warms my heart to know that she is in love with him as much as I am! I love you, Justin!

Justin and I have the two best mothers in the world!!

If you haven't already, take time to say "I love you mommy! (and thanks for being "good for nothing!") :)

God Bless -
Sara
